just a rant

So I just finished listening to one man decipher another man's sermon. Can I tell you how interesting that is. Thanks to a friend of mine I have discovered fightingforthefaith.com, and it rocks. He was talking about how ministers misinterpret scripture through isogesis interpretations, or not from God but borderline heresy. I find it interesting that people run to false teachings, like how 1Samuel 14 is a story on how God told one man to build a church, as opposed to a story of how Jonathan trusted God to fight for Israel in the face of the Philistines and in his faith was delivered from their hand.
Sadly enough, this is a church of thousands, where the minister also says that it isn't the job of ministers to feed the members. That stands in strict contradiction to scripture though, right?
What does JESUS say in John chapter 21? When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Peter, "Peter, son of John, do you truly love me more than these?" "Yes Lord", he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said "Feed my Lambs." I guess you can judge for yourselves whether this minister is correct or not, I think it is simple.
I have decided one thing though, If I were to start my own church I would carry with me three people who I know would keep me accountable in all things. I also think that every new church plant should follow that same sequence.
So here it is; Dane Valdetero, he has always tried to keep me accountable, that what I say might                         be what I do.
Zack Rearick, I have learned that he holds a firm appreciation for taking                     scripture and presenting it only in the light (or context) that God intended.
Brad Barnett, because he seems to know what it takes to keep you ethics in line     and I would know that in a situation like  ministry ethics would be tested finely.
So to that end I am glad to know that I have people that I look up to, but it has to go beyond looking up, and actually become accountable to. I wish ministers would think about their short comings before they start churches, but hey, they just haven't read Jeremiah 23, right Eric?

  1. So what about me? Eisegesis is a destructive thing always got to start from the Word and work out. Principles can be applied based on the correct interpretation. Hope things are going well at ICC (has it changed names yet)?
